Our Services

feature06Afesis-corplan is guided by the understanding that development is a political process, and we work to place the needs of the poor and marginalised on the development agenda. We do this by offering the following services:

  • Technical support on land issues and physical development projects
  • Capacity building and training in institutional development, local governance and various technical fields
  • Research relating to settlement development and local government
  • Information dissemination on key development issues

Objectives

At Afesis-corplan we strive to:

  • Improve the capacity of targeted local authorities to implement developmental, participatory local governance as noted in an audit of local government capacity
  • Strengthen the partnership between targeted local authorities and relevant civil society structures as demonstrated by an increase in the viability and effectiveness of services and projects initiated
  • Promote and support housing co-operatives as an institutional form that gives voice to the homeless in their efforts to house themselves
  • Develop and test environmentally sustainable models that improve the capacity of the urban and rural poor to access land and basic services within an integrated framework
