Afesis-corplan in partnership with Buffalo City Municipality, EISA and PCRD began the long awaited ward committee members’ training on 26 March 2007. The pilot project aimed at strengthening the second generation ward committees is being undertaken at selected venues all over the city. The two-day workshops are geared towards building the capacity of ward committees. Participants are engaged in various stimulating activities and presentations during the workshops.
Afesis-corplan to attend PHP meeting

NGOs involved in the Peoples Housing Process (PHP) will be meeting with senior National Department of Housing officials on 28 March 2007 as a follow up to a meeting held in December 2006. The purpose of the meeting is to find out what plans the National Department has for reviewing and updating the PHP. The NGOs believe that the PHP has not been as successful as it could have been and that a revised and properly developed and resourced government PHP programme has the potential to make a significant contribution in addressing the housing needs of the country.

Settlement Staff meet with SCC and partners, Zimbabwe

Mthe Pobana and Ronald Eglin will be attending a SCC partners meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe on 12 to 16 March 2007. The meeting will review experiences in partnership arrangements as well as look at mainstreaming gender and HIV/ AIDS activities into project work. Click here to read more about the SCC.

BCM Councillors Attend Ward Profiling Presentation

Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) councilors attended a presentation by Afesis-corplan and partner NGOs on 28 February on the findings and recommendations of their recently completed ward profiling survey. The main aim of the survey was to collect information that would help Afesis-corplan and BCM to better understand the support needs of the ward committees.

Afesis-corplan staff and management said good-bye to Saroj today and thanked her for the contribution she has made in the Settlement Unit over the past two and a half years. We wish you all the best for the future Saroj!
