This report comprises an overview of information gained from various programmes of the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) and Afesis-corplan in their work directly with ward committees, other related capacity-building work within municipalities, as well as other initiatives aimed at building democratic institutions within civil society, more specifically within public participation formations.
