Visiting Mhlontlo & New Villages

Nontando Ngamlana, Nontlantla Skenjana, Nomaxabiso Maqanda and Tracey-Lee du Plessis were in the Mhlontlo region on Wednesday and Thursday, 3-4 March 2010. The purpose of the trip was to visit new villages and introduce Afesis-corplan to community members as well as the role the organisation would play in social development facilitation.

On Wednesday afternoon, Nontando chaired the first Launch Committee Meeting held in Mthatha. Many key community members were there and it was a successful engagement with positive outcomes. Another Committee Meeting with be scheduled soon. The purpose of the meeting was to inform committee members of the progress made in Mthatha and to provide updates on what has happened since the Charter Signing Ceremony.

Also in the Mhlontlo region, Noxolo Kabane and Thabile Sokupa travelled to Maclear and the surrounding towns and villages to meet with key stakeholders that will help in one of the organisation's current projects. Afesis-corplan is in the process of developing a hawkers' policy for Maclear. Research done by Noxolo and Thabile will contribute towards formulating the policy.
