Afesis-corplan with support from the GTZ has developed a civil society tool for assessing and monitoring good governance practice at the local level. The tool, known as the Good Governance Survey (GGS) is available to municipalities to use as a self-assessment instrument. Idasa in partnership with Pact and Netherland Development Organisation has also developed a tool, the Local Governance Barometer (LGB) to measure the level of governance in municipalities. On 20 June 2008, Afesis-corplan and Idasa will meet in Pretoria to share information around the use of the two assessment tools.
