Glenn Hollands of our Local Government Transformation Programme meets with other members of the Good Governance Learning Network (GGLN) in Cape Town on 30 and 31 January 2007. The GGLN is a loose network of South African NGOs which focuses primarily on promoting good local governance. The GGLN is funded by the Ford Foundation and supported by other funding partners such as the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, and the Open Society Foundation for South Africa. The main objective of this growing network is to share and learn from common experiences by creating an interface for institutions working on issues of local governance. Other objectives include the documentation and dissemination of good practices, building capacity of practitioners and advocacy, as well as creating awareness about the value of participatory local governance.
