Focus group interviews in Mpumalanga

On 5 and 6 December, three research teams from Afesis-corplan conducted focus group interviews in all the local municipalities of Nkangala District, Mpumalanga. These sessions helped clarify some of the provisional findings of the Good Governance Survey whose initial fieldwork had been done in August this year. The sessions were well attended by members of the public, civil society, council officials and councillors.
End-of-year Staff function

Afesis-corplan staff will participate in a team building exercise of Paintball followed by a Christmas lunch at La Terrazza Restaurant on 8 December 2006.
Royal Danish Embassy Meeting

The Royal Danish Embassy called a meeting on 7 December 2006 in Pretoria with its partners, including Afesis-corplan. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the report being compiled by the review team. Once completed, the report will indicate the progress made by the partner projects in preparation for the end of contract in June 2007.
Amatole District Council Workshop

Mthe Pobana made a presentation at a workshop held by the ADM on 5 December 2006. The aim of the workshop was to explore possibilities of how ADM could interact with all sectors of co-operatives. A follow-up workshop will be organised next year.
FEDUP Housing Opening Ceremony

On 4 December 2006 Mthe Pobana of our Settlement Unit attended a FEDUP housing opening ceremony in Port Elizabeth. He was accompanied by a committee representing 20 shack dwellers. People's Housing Process: The way forward

The People’s Housing Partnership Trust (PHPT) is taking the recommendations made by the PHP Policy Working Group forward. In order to kick start this process, a meeting will take place on 4 December 2006 in Johannesburg from 09h30 to 15h00. The aim of the meeting is to develop an action plan, along with formal terms of reference and the appointment of people to implement the action plan.
